'Ellen' is arguably the most desirable low green laceleaf Japanese maple.  It is surprisingly hardy considering its delicate appearance.
Ellen early springEllen summer
The spring foliage is a nice bright green which deepens to a slightly glossy medium green in summer.  The lobes are deeply divided and radiate outward giving the leaf a rounded appearance.  Fall colors are primarily golds with orange overtones.

This vigorous dissectum has strong branches and balanced growth.  The habit is very low and graceful.  Mature plants could easily remain below 4 feet in height (unless staked) with a width of 8 to 12 feet.
